Formal Recruitment Fall 2020
Please note: Fall 2020 Recruitment has ended. Please stay tuned for future membership opportunities and details.
In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, the general structure of Fall 2020 Formal Recruitment will be a fully virtual model, to follow UCLA and LA County guidelines and restrictions.
A majority of women obtain membership in a Panhellenic organization through the formal recruitment process, but dependent upon membership totals, some chapters may provide informal opportunities to join their organizations throughout the year. If you have any questions or are interested in informal recruitment opportunities, email Ryley at email@example.com.
In order to participate in Panhellenic Formal Recruitment, PNMs must pay a NON-REFUNDABLE fee to cover all required Recruitment-related materials. The fee has been decreased to $15 for the entire registration period for Fall 2020.
What is Recruitment?
Formal recruitment, which takes place at the beginning of every school year in the Fall, is the process by which active members of our 11 NPC member chapters meet potential new members (PNMs) interested in joining the Panhellenic community. PNMs have the opportunity throughout this weeklong process to discuss with current members their sororities' values, ideals, and activities.
The formal recruitment period consists of four rounds: Open House, Chapter Living, Philanthropy, and Preference. In each round, PNMs will talk to fewer houses as they and the chapters narrow their options. Following Preference Round, a PNM may be extended an invitation to join one of our chapters.
Any female-identifying student is eligible to participate in Panhellenic formal recruitment and join a chapter if she is a regularly matriculated undergraduate student at UCLA. Any enrolled undergraduate student who has been granted full-time status may participate in formal recruitment, though each chapter has its own requirements for membership.
To participate in recruitment, a female-identifying student may not be an initiated member of any National Panhellenic Conference sorority.
